It's an Unreasonable Game-Like Different World! - Gokurakuten Fukura 4

Fukura walked while looking at the map on her smartphone.

Although she couldn't place her full trust in it, the Dynamic Sensory skill was still reliable.

"Still... what situation is this? If this is a transfer to another world, it seems certain that the academy is involved."

The transfer occurred right after the end of the entrance ceremony, and there was the academy-issued device that worked even in this place. The academy uniform was treated as equipment. Then there were the corpses of what seemed to be new students. All these couldn't be mere coincidences.

"If only I had learned some survival skills..."

Fukura practiced Dannoura style archery, which included various techniques. Among them were skills for self-sufficiency in the wild.

However, she learned Dannoura style merely as a form of self-defense. Rather than preparing for getting stranded in the mountains, focusing on avoiding crises in urban settings seemed more efficient.

"I've heard you can survive for weeks on just water... but there’s no water here either."

While the lush green environment suggested the presence of water sources, searching for them seemed daunting. Prioritizing finding a place where people lived was the better option.

Her increased self-talk was due to anxiety, but Fukura wasn’t taking it too seriously. She trusted her choices and luck.

"Oh?"

She stopped as she noticed the path on the map coming to an end and looked ahead.

Indeed, the path had ended, and it was no longer forest ahead.

It was a grassland.

The grassland stretched out abruptly in the middle of the forest.

"It's saying not to deviate from the path, but..."

The grassland was circular, fitting into the forest as if inserted there, with a diameter of about 100 meters. There were mounds scattered across it, around five meters tall. To Fukura, they looked similar to anthills.

Fukura activated her smartphone's camera.

Zooming in, she saw the path continuing on the opposite side of the grassland. Going straight would take her around the edge of the grassland, and she would reach the path in about 70 meters.

Should she continue this way?

Fukura felt an ominous premonition. This grassland seemed suspicious.

If she had to deviate from the path, the forest seemed safer. Avoiding the grassland wouldn't be much of a detour.

Fukura started walking to the left, veering off the path and into the forest. She could have run to quickly reach the path, but that might make her less vigilant.

Walking slowly seemed a better choice.

Listening to the surrounding sounds, checking the map, and observing her surroundings, she walked. The density of the trees was low, offering good visibility, so she shouldn't be suddenly attacked.

As she carefully walked with the grassland to her right and was halfway through, two red dots appeared on the map in front of her.

Two enemies ahead.

Fukura had been expecting enemies in this area since it was the farthest from both paths.

Two small shadows emerged from behind the trees, and Fukura pocketed her smartphone.

They were the same green monsters she had first defeated. Small, with inverted triangular heads and blade-like claws.

Typically, humans can't win against wild animals. Fukura had managed to win earlier because it was a sudden encounter, and the enemy was confused. Moreover, the enemy was intelligent enough to choose where to attack. Under normal circumstances, she would stand no chance.

But, the Dannoura style she learned was designed for situations where you face opponents you'd normally lose to, training for such emergencies.

Fukura already had stones in both hands.

And while keeping her eyes forward, she threw a stone backward.

Dannoura style archery, Ikaruga.

A technique to throw pebbles without preparatory motion, using only the wrist and fingertips.

If an enemy appeared in front, assume there's one behind too. It's a teaching of the Dannoura style, and Fukura was sensitive to the presence behind her. She felt something and threw the stone as a deterrent.

She didn't aim to hit. If it startled the enemy even slightly, that was a bonus. But she involuntarily turned around at the sudden sound of an explosion.

A blood-covered monster lay there.

Fukura quickly faced forward again.

The enemies were stunned and had stopped moving.

Fukura took a stone from her pocket and continued throwing.

The stones hit the faces of both creatures and exploded.

Their heads burst open, spraying blood as they fell.

"Um... so this is the Bloody Party skill?"

It's a skill where an explosion occurs with a certain probability when a critical hit is achieved. However, this wasn't the outcome Fukura had intended. She had merely aimed to attack their eyes to stun them and use the opportunity to reach the path.

"Having it happen like this every time would be a bit disturbing."

Despite having killed living creatures, Fukura only felt a slight discomfort. This, too, was probably a result of her training in the Dannoura style. The training had accustomed her to violence and gruesome scenes.

Fukura took out her smartphone to check the map. It seemed there were no enemies around.

Now was a good time to head back to the path.

As she started to walk past the monsters' corpses, her hip pocket vibrated, and something fell to the ground.

She looked down at what had fallen.

It was a giant eyeball and long, blade-like claws.

What had happened? The answer was displayed on her smartphone.

"Failed automatic retrieval. The item cannot be stored in the current storage."

"I see?"

The body parts of the defeated monsters probably granted ownership rights to the one who defeated them. Hence, the automatic retrieval tried to collect items nearby and store them. However, Fukura's only storage was the Scavenger Pocket, which could only store junk category items. Therefore, though it attempted to retrieve, the items couldn't be stored and fell to the ground instead.

Curious, Fukura went to check the other monsters.

Long claws, fangs, exoskeletons fell at her feet. These were clean, neither covered in blood nor attached to any tissue.

"This is... such a waste."

It was her policy to take what she could get, but she had no means to carry these items. This lack of storage space was a source of mild stress for Fukura.

  1. Jacking her luck through the roof seems to have increased her critical hit chance and she picked a skill that triggers off crits . . . She's already terrifying.
