It's an Unreasonable Game-Like Different World! - Kitahara Kazuhiko 2

Kazuhiko was walking through the forest, looking at the map on his smartphone.

With each step, the previously blank map filled with color. Around the arrow representing his location, the forest was being drawn. The area being mapped seemed to be approximately a 30-meter radius, probably related to his Perception status value. With a Perception status of 3 and a Dynamic Sensory skill range of 30 meters, it seemed that 30 meters was the standard range for scanning skills for Kazuhiko.

He wondered if he should have increased his Perception status a bit more. However, he couldn’t have known at the initial setting stage, so it couldn’t be helped.

"Well, 30 meters is still quite a distance."

Thirty meters was close to the length of a basketball court. This much distance should be enough to respond even if an enemy suddenly appeared.

"I wonder if any enemies will show up."

He muttered while swinging his club. Kazuhiko had no intention of just running away. His plan was to defeat enemies and level up rapidly.

It was carefree considering he had no idea what kind of enemies would appear, but he assumed, like in games, that weaker enemies would appear in the early stages.

"But man, using a smartphone while walking is essential here... Oh, something's there."

To his right and slightly ahead. He couldn’t see due to the trees, but at the edge of his sensory range, three red dots appeared.

They didn’t seem to have noticed Kazuhiko and were about to cross in front of him.

"Then... time for a preemptive strike!"

They were probably off guard. They might be surprised and confused, like in a game.

Kazuhiko pocketed his smartphone and started running.

He was faster than expected and almost stumbled, but he kept his momentum and circled around to the enemies’ rear.

The creatures were about the size of children, green with an insect-like exoskeleton and small wings on their backs. Had they been human, he might have hesitated, but he was resolute that these were clear enemies.

Kazuhiko charged and swung his club down from behind one of the monsters.

With a gruesome squelch, the monster's head caved in. It was more fragile than he thought. Realizing this, he struck another monster's head with his club. The monster’s head dented in. A normal creature would likely not survive that.

As he raised his club to strike the third monster, it turned around.

"Ugh!"

He felt a sharp impact on his side.

A pain unlike anything he'd felt before hit Kazuhiko. The monster’s claw had pierced his side.

What followed was a blur of panic. He couldn't afford to crouch in pain or run away. He swung his club wildly, and before he knew it, the monster stopped moving.

Regaining his composure, he checked his side. There was no hole in his uniform. If it was considered armor, it must have had some defensive ability against stabbing.

"It was a breeze, wasn't it!?"

He boasted, trying to calm down.

Though the start wasn't promising, he had won without significant damage. He couldn’t afford to be fearful and shrink back now.

As his excitement subsided, Kazuhiko noticed his smartphone vibrating.

Checking it, he saw a notification for leveling up.

"Ah, leveled up already?"

[Status]

Level: 2

Job: Warrior

HP: 17/40

MP: 10/20

Physique: 5

Beauty: 2

Perception: 3

Magic: 3

Luck: 2

The maximum values for HP and MP had increased, but there were no changes to the status values.

"So leveling up doesn't fully restore health, huh? Wait, 3? That intense pain was just 3..."

His HP had been 20 before and now it was 17. Since he had been attacked only once, the claw's power must be equivalent to 3. Realizing he could potentially die after taking seven such hits, Kazuhiko felt a shiver of fear.

"Well, at least an increase in max HP means the pain might be less severe... right?"

Hoping this was the case, he closed the status app.

Then he noticed a small change on the home screen.

There was an exclamation mark (!) over the skill app, probably indicating a notification. Kazuhiko opened the skill app.

"So skill points do increase with leveling up."

Tapping on the skill points brought up the skill acquisition screen.

The acquisition screen was in a tree format, divided into different categories.

"What I can get now are... increased carrying capacity, enhanced striking power, and enhanced part destruction... Well, it's gotta be enhanced striking."

He wasn't carrying so much that it was a problem, and part destruction didn't seem useful at the moment. Instead, enhancing the striking power of his current club seemed the most effective.

Kazuhiko spent his skill point on enhancing his striking power.

"Alright, let's go."

Kazuhiko started heading east again.
