It's an Unreasonable Game-Like Different World! - Kitahara Kazuhiko 1

When Kitahara Kazuhiko stepped out of the auditorium and the surroundings changed into a forest, he immediately concluded that this was a transfer to another world.

He had been eagerly anticipating something like this.

For most people, this would be a situation of sheer confusion, but Kazuhiko had long been mentally prepared for such a scenario.

“What kind of pattern is this...? Do I have some kind of cheat ability? Or is it about surviving in an unreasonable world?”

Feeling uneasy in the sudden forest surroundings, Kazuhiko sensed danger.

In these kinds of situations, there was a high likelihood of being attacked by monsters first.

“First things first... Status Open!”

No status window appeared before his eyes; only his voice echoed through the forest.

“Embarrassing! Eh, doesn’t something like that exist here? Maybe it’s a world where I have to make do with modern knowledge?”

In a medieval European-style fantasy world, the modern knowledge possessed by an average high school student would likely be of little use.

However, Kazuhiko had always made an effort to remember things that might be useful even in such a world. He had read manuals on resurrecting science and technology in a world where civilization had collapsed, and books on modern agriculture.

“First things first, are my clothes the same?”

Kazuhiko checked his belongings.

His current possessions included his school uniform, underwear, socks, shoes, a wristwatch, a wallet, a keychain, and a smartphone issued by the academy.

It seemed he had brought with him whatever he had on him when he left the auditorium.

“Smartphone, huh... Normally, it wouldn’t work in another world――but it does!”

He had thought it wouldn’t work in another world without signal, but the screen displayed an antenna symbol.

The possibility that this wasn’t another world began to surface, causing Kazuhiko to feel slightly uneasy.

“Maybe it’s one of those worlds where you can do various things with a smartphone... Status? Oh!”

What was displayed on the smartphone's screen was a status setting page.

The parameters were Physique, Beauty, Intelligence, Perception, Magic, and Luck, each with an initial value of 1. There were 12 bonus points and a re-roll button beside them.

Kazuhiko quickly understood that these points were to be allocated to the various parameters.

“There’s a re-roll option, but... well, this should be fine.”

It was unclear if he could re-roll multiple times, and there was a chance the points could decrease.

Somehow, he felt that these values were fairly reasonable.

“Maxing out one stat can be powerful but also scary...”

Not knowing what would be useful, Kazuhiko thought it best to distribute the stats evenly. He allocated 2 points to each, but when he pressed the confirm button, an error message appeared.

“Status values do not meet job requirements. Please increase at least one status to 5 or more.”

"What the heck. They should explain that from the start..."

While grumbling, Kazuhiko reduced his Luck and Beauty by one each and reallocated those points to Physique, then pressed the confirm button.

He could feel strength surging through his body. While he didn’t appear to be more muscular, it seemed his muscle mass might have increased. He felt like he could exert more strength than before.

"Is this because I allocated points to Physique? What about Beauty?"

After the initial setup, his smartphone displayed the home screen. Kazuhiko launched the camera app and checked his face using the front camera.

His appearance hadn't drastically changed, but while retaining his original features, his eyes seemed a bit larger and more balanced.

"Seriously... I feel like I’ve become more handsome... I should have allocated more points to Beauty..."

He felt a tinge of regret, but first, he needed the strength to survive in this situation. For that, Physique was crucial, and Beauty and Luck didn’t seem as relevant.

"There seem to be various functions on the smartphone... Status! This is it!"

Kazuhiko opened the status app among the icons on the home screen.

[Status]

Level: 1

Job: Warrior

HP: 20/20

MP: 10/10

Physique: 5

Beauty: 2

Intelligence: 3

Perception: 3

Magic: 3

Luck: 2

"Ah, so your job is determined by your status?"

It seemed like a job system where a higher Physique would make you a warrior, and more Magic would make you a magician.

Kazuhiko then launched the equipment app.

[Equipment]

Kyuhoumi Academy Uniform (Male)

"I guess warrior-like equipment doesn’t just appear?"

In games, each job often comes with basic equipment, but it didn’t seem like equipment would magically appear here.

As there seemed to be nothing more to learn, Kazuhiko opened the skill app.

[Skills]

Skill Points: 0

Physique Skills

  • HP Up

Intelligence Skills

  • Common Language Understanding

Perception Skills

  • Dynamic Sensory

Warrior Skills

  • Close Combat Weapon Damage Up

The categories of skills seem to be divided according to each status and job.

Tapping on a skill name displayed detailed information.

  • HP Up Maximum HP increases by Level * 10.

  • Common Language Understanding Enables reading, writing, and conversing in the common language. The common language is an artificial language learned by almost all ethnicities and races. It has been established for a long time, and if one can use this language, communication shouldn't be a problem.

  • Dynamic Sensory Displays moving objects on the map within a radius of [30] meters.

  • Close Combat Weapon Damage Up Increases attack power when equipped with a close combat weapon.

"Hmm... this seems like a setting where I'd have to fight monsters..."

Considering that fighting bare-handed would be tough, Kazuhiko looked around.

"Is this the best I can find?"

There were no swords or spears lying around, and what Kazuhiko picked up was a piece of wood.

The wood was heavier and more durable than he expected. It could pass for a club and would probably be sufficient for fighting. With this makeshift weapon in hand, Kazuhiko launched the map app.

It seemed to display the terrain around his current location. The display area would probably expand as he moved. Zooming out on the map, an asterisk-shaped mark appeared to the east.

"Is that the destination? There's no other indication, so I guess I should head there first. But, well... Whoa!"

Before he realized it, small creatures had been circling around him at a distance. He hadn’t noticed their approach while he was engrossed in his smartphone.

They were small girls with wings.

"Pixies? Fairies? This really is fantasy, isn't it?" "Pixies? We're fairies, you know?" "Ah, right. So, what do you want with me?"

Kazuhiko wasn't particularly on guard. He assumed that cute beings like fairies would be friendly towards humans.

"Hey. Do you have chocolate? Round, sweet, and delicious?" "Chocolate? Nah, I don't have any."

It was unlikely that any sensible student would bring sweets to a school entrance ceremony.

"By the way, are there any humans around here?" "Yeah, there are. If you go that way, there's a village."

Several fairies pointed in the same direction. It was towards the east, where he had seen the asterisk-shaped mark on the map.

"Oh, thanks!" "See you."

The fairies, having lost interest in Kazuhiko, left.

"But that asterisk mark is quite far away... It's unlikely that a village would be so distant."

Judging from the map scale, the asterisk mark seemed to be about 150 kilometers away.

It seemed unlikely that they would direct him to such a distant place when asked about human habitation.

Kazuhiko casually assumed that he would find a village soon if he headed in that direction.
