My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! Volume 14 Chapter 3

 CHAPTER 3

I don't want to make such a heavy vow so easily!

"Anyway, you're going to help me, right!?"

Feeling utterly pathetic, Hanakawa appealed to Sora with a sense of desperation.

"Yes, that's my intention."

Sora smiled cheerfully. Hanakawa's heart rate rose at that calculated smile. He had no idea what was going on, but at least the dragon had stopped moving for now. He moved closer to Sora.
The dragon's right leg was in tatters. It must have lost its balance when it could no longer put any weight on the leg. However, the leg seemed to be healing. Since it didn't appear to be using any magic, it must have been natural healing. It was a formidable opponent, being massive, quick, able to breathe fire, and able to heal from injuries in no time.

"Um, Sora-tan's class is an idol, right? I can't imagine you fighting... Are you actually strong?"

Feeling anxious, Hanakawa asked. He thought the dragon seemed damaged and that Sora must have done something, but she didn't seem like someone who could fight.

"No way. Idols don't fight and aren't strong."
"Eh? But didn't you do something, and the dragon got hurt?"
"I just came because it seemed like you needed help."

Feeling uneasy, Hanakawa stared intently at Sora.
She was indeed cute, and her idol costume, which seemed out of place in the dungeon, was well made. But in this situation, he no longer felt she could be of any help.

"You're going to help me, right?"
"I do plan to, but... what specifically should we do?"
"By the way, what are idol skills? I imagine singing and dancing to charm enemies, right? Well, even if they don't completely join our side, if they lose interest or their hate is reduced, that would be great!"
"My main skill is Vow. It grants wishes in accordance with the vow, and there are penalties for breaking the vow. Ah! Then, maybe Hanakawa-kun just needs to make a good wish?"
"No, it doesn't seem like there's time for that!"

The fully recovered dragon was glaring at Hanakawa and Sora. The dragon seemed to be cautious as well, not knowing what had happened, but it wouldn't keep observing forever.
There was no way they could leisurely make a vow and be overlooked.

"Um, can you quickly grant a wish?"
"Well, if you make a constraint like 'If I use my right hand, I'll die,' you can easily power up."
"I don't want to make such a heavy vow so easily!"

Just as the dragon was about to move, it was impossible to think of a well-balanced vow.

"But I think it'll work out somehow."

Sora didn't seem afraid at all.
Before they knew it, there were people all around Hanakawa and Sora.
A boy in a happi coat with a fan, a middle-aged man in a suit, a girl in a school uniform, and many others of various ages, genders, and occupations had somehow surrounded them.

"What is this?"
"It's another one of my skills, Fanatical Fans. My fans appear out of nowhere and help me."
"They're appearing out of nowhere too much! We're in the middle of a dungeon in another world!?"

The fans charged at the dragon.
As the dragon swung its right leg down, a chubby boy was crushed. They didn't seem particularly strong. However, the next moment, the dragon's right leg exploded.
The dragon flinched. Taking advantage of the opening, the man in the suit clung to its left leg and exploded.

"Gwooooooooaah!"

Was the roar due to pain, confusion, or fear?
The dragon was bewildered.
Fearless humans attacked one after another, carrying out suicide bombing attacks. It was natural for the dragon to be confused and afraid.

"So... were you the one who saved me earlier with this? You seemed to have no idea about it."

Moreover, it seemed unclear what to do next.

"Unfortunately, I can't control this skill at all. They appear and do things on their own. So, I can't say that I did anything."
"Ah..."

It seemed that she had no intention of taking responsibility for any of this.

"But suicide bombing attacks..."
"The origin of the word fan is fanatic, which means fanatical. If they're my passionate fans, they should be able to do that much, right?"
"So, are they summoned from our world to come here...?"
"Of course not. If that were the case, I couldn't ask them to do such things. I think they're more like illusions created by magic."

It didn't look that way at all, but Hanakawa couldn't bring himself to ask any further. If Sora believed that, it was probably fine.
The dragon seemed to be no longer concerned about Hanakawa.
No matter how many times they were defeated or crushed, humans appeared from nowhere. They didn't have much power, but they could cause their bodies to explode. Even if each explosion wasn't powerful, it accumulated and changed the situation.
The dragon's outer surface seemed sturdy, but it was still damaged by the suicide bombing attacks. Although it healed quickly, continuous attacks didn't allow it to heal completely. There must be some wear and tear from the healing process.

"Um... I once saw a video of bees killing hornets with heat by swarming them..."

The dragon's movement slowed down, and the fans stopped exploding individually. Instead, they swarmed the dragon, climbed on it, and tried to cover it completely.
To Hanakawa, it looked like a heat-killing bee ball.

"We should probably move away a bit."

Sora turned her back on the dragon and leisurely walked away.
Hanakawa followed Sora while occasionally glancing at the dragon.
After a while, the dungeon shook with a loud explosion.
They had moved far enough away, but the blast was still strong enough to reach them.
Then, a large number of souls flowed in.
Souls were like experience points in the Battle Song system. When a monster died, it released souls, and by absorbing them, one could become stronger.
Souls quickly dissolved in the atmosphere, so those closest to the defeated monster would benefit the most. In this case, staying too far away would be disadvantageous, but the dragon's soul was so vast that the saturated souls reached them.
Hanakawa hadn't done anything, but he had grown a little by chance.
The death of the dragon was certain, so the two returned to the scene of the battle.
The dragon was unrecognizable. It had turned into a massive amount of blood and flesh, sticking to the dungeon's floor, walls, and ceiling. It seemed that it couldn't recover from this state.

"This is... incredible..."
"I'm glad it worked out somehow."

There seemed to be a lot of fans sacrificed, but Hanakawa didn't mention it. As Sora said, they were probably something created by magic. He felt like there were a lot of human corpses mixed in with the dragon's remains, but he convinced himself that it was just his imagination.

"So, Sora, you're also aiming to clear the game, right?"
"More precisely, I want to persuade Takatou-kun, but I have to proceed through this area to do that, so it's pretty much the same thing."
"I want to get out of here as well, so could I join you?"

Hanakawa hesitated a bit.
He felt that it might be better not to get involved with Sora. However, he couldn't possibly proceed through such a dangerous dungeon alone. To survive here, he needed allies.

"Yes, we're classmates, so we should help each other."
"Then let's head to the gate... By the way, do you have the Philosopher's Stone?"

Hanakawa remembered the beach at the Sky Castle area.
There were a lot of players gathered there, but he didn't think Sora was among them.
The original Philosopher's Stones were limited in number and difficult to obtain. He thought the only option was to get a replica created by a witch.

"When I entered the Prison Area and couldn't proceed, someone gave it to me."
"I see! That's just like you, Sora!"

If a party only needs one Philosopher's Stone, someone with an extra might be willing to give it away.
Hanakawa decided not to think about anything unnecessary.
