My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! Volume 13, Chapter 1.
Recap of events from volume 12 (Read the J-Novel Club release if you haven't, it's good.
Previously.
Yogiri Takatou and Tomochika Dannoura were doing various things to return to their original world, but somehow the situation was reset and they were sent back to right after they came to the other world.
Nevertheless, in order to return to their original world, Yogiri and his friends challenge themselves to a game created by a sage, Cavern Quest.
The collection of the Philosopher's Stone seemed to be going smoothly, but when they returned to the Adventurer's Guild from the game field, it had been wiped out for some reason...
CHAPTER 1
Even if You Say That, I Don't See Any Particular Reason to Actively Help Them.
Yogiri and party were perplexed.
When they returned to the Adventurers' Guild from the field, they found themselves in a hellscape of rampaging monsters and mutilated corpses.
Yogiri killed the monsters that tried to attack them, but he had no idea why this was happening.
"I wonder if the monsters really came through the guild gate."
Yogiri turned around and looked at the large door he had just passed through.
This town was a closed space, and Yogiri and the others had been transported there by the power of Sage Van.
As far as Yogiri knew, the only way to move to another space was through the gate in the Adventurers' Guild.
"I remember hearing something about being able to move between different channels."
Tomochika remarked, and Yogiri recalled that Sage Van had given such an explanation.
"He said there were a number of cities just like this one, divided by channel number. Can they get here directly from the city of monsters?"
"I was in a place that was not even a city but a cave. I have a feeling that it is not possible to move directly from there to here."
"In the first place, is there any reason for the monsters to attack these people specifically?"
"If you kill people, you get DP, and if you are creative in the way you kill people, you get bonus points. It would not be surprising to get a large amount of bonus DP if you attack a city. Even if you don't get any bonuses, there must be some merit in raiding a city if you can unilaterally kill those who are caught off guard."
"Monsters also pay a survival tax in DP, right?"
"Exactly. Otherwise, the monsters wouldn't be so eager to kill people."
"I have a lot of things to think about, but I don't see why we're standing here talking. We need to do something," Edelgard suggested.
"I guess we'll just have to see what's going on out there for now."
There was no point in dawdling here, and the environment in the guild was not one in which one would want to linger.
Led by Yogiri, Dai the dog, Tomochika, Edelgard the guard, Atila the dragon, and Sakut the elf left the guild in that order.
The scene outside was not much different from that inside the guild.
There too, human corpses lay scattered about. It was obvious that the adventurers had lost.
"This is what total annihilation looks like, I guess."
Even now, there was no sign of continued resistance, and the city was quiet.
'But this will stop the city from functioning, and we won't be able to take Cavern Quests. If we can't accept the quests, we can't go to the field.'
"Eh? That means we're trapped in a place like this!"
"How strange. It seems as if that means monsters can't come back either."
Yogiri was unsure of the monsters' purposes, but he thought it was unnatural that they were just letting their aggressive instincts get the better of themselves and rampaging.
'Hmmm, if ......DP is what hey came here for, they're going to have trouble getting home.'
It seems unlikely that this would be the case if they just wanted to kill humans, but Atila said that the monsters who came here from the outside have some intelligence. I don't know what the power structure of the monsters is, but I doubt that they would be satisfied with being treated like a bunch of hardheads.
"If you're moving through the gates, you have to go through the guild people, right?"
Yogiri tried to picture the process of receiving a quest order.
He would look at the quest form on the guild wall to confirm the quest number, then go to the guild reception desk and tell them the number of the quest he wanted to receive. After that, they would pass through a large door in the guild and be transported to the field where the quest was to take place.
'Did the receptionist usually do something with the quest number?'
Yogiri, who did not remember what the receptionist usually did, asked Tomochika.
"Hmm. I think I wrote down something about it."
"I wonder if we could write something and call it a quest order on our own...... If only guild officials have the authority to order quests, then we're screwed."
"I don't know if it's a long shot, but we'll just have to find a survivor," Edelgard said with a sigh. She didn't seem to believe there were any survivors.
"Leave it to me! With a dragon's super-senses, it's not hard to locate the survivors!...... Hmmmmm...... Well, I've got a faint feeling that there might be something there, but...... they might just still be dying."
"Regardless, we should still go. Where did you detect them?"
"That one and that one. There's that one, too. There are also monsters there with them, so they may still be fighting....."
Atila pointed to a weapons store, an inn, and an information shop. Atila said there were monsters with them, but there was no sign of an ongoing battle. If they were alive, they were probably hiding somewhere.
"It would be dangerous to split up and act separately, so let's all go to the informant's. Is that okay?"
"Why an informant?"
"Sure, we can take weapons and tools from the stores, but our goal is to get information, isn't it?"
Edelgard looked a little grim, but did not seem to object.
"Wait a minute! Are you going to leave the others to die?!"
"Even if you say that, I don't see any particular reason to actively help them," Yogiri replied to Sakut, who was confused..
"Eh?Is that okay with you guys?"
"If we can help more people, I suppose we should, but we don't know enough about the situation. If the informant is still alive, it's better to help them and listen to what they have to say."
"I'm a monster to begin with....... I'm interested in human culture, but I'm not so interested in the life and death of the people in the city."
"Is it normal to want to help everyone in a situation like this?"
Tomochika looked as if she had noticed something.
"Can't you kill all the monsters in the city with your power?" Edelgard asked Yogiri.
"That's impossible without confirming their existence."
That's what Yogiri said, but even if he could, he wasn't going to do it.
He did not think it was okay to kill them without question just because they were monsters.
"I said that because I thought we should work together, but if you don't want to do that, do what you want. I'll go to the informant."
If they kept stalling and got in trouble, nobody would be saved at all. Yogiri was about to head for the informant's office, but he stopped short.
The door of the informant's shop opened and someone came out.
It was a boy with horns on his forehead and a pillar-like object on his shoulder.
"Heh? I'm surprised you're still alive. Hmm? I've seen you guys somewhere," The boy said, with admiration.
"Ah! He was with Hanakawa-kun!"
Tomochika pointed at the boy, and Yogiri also remembered.
They had met him in the guildmaster's room.
He was one of the six people Sage Van had called in. A boy who, like Hanakawa, had a Philosopher's Stone inside him.
後書き
This is my first translation. No, I am not great at Japanese. Yes, this is mostly a MTL with some modifications. I put a decent effort into this. If it sucks, let me know why if you're smarter than me. I'll probably appreciate that a lot more than a comment like "This sucks dick, go die." That's all. Hopefully you enjoyed. I'll translate the other chapters in my free time, because it's like four months until the next volume comes out and I don't really feel like waiting that long.
